About Lucknow

Lucknow (Lakhnau) is the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, India, situated on the banks of the Gomti River. Historically located in the Awadh (Oudh) region, Lucknow has always been a multicultural city and emerged as the cultural and artistic capital of North India during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Renowned for its courtly manners, Nawabi culture, gardens, poetry, music, and fine cuisine, Lucknow flourished under the patronage of the Persian-loving Shia Nawabs. Because of this rich heritage, the city is popularly known as “The City of Nawabs.”

How To Reach

Lucknow is well connected to all the major cities in the country by air, rail, and roadways. Superfast/Express trains are available throughout the day and night to/from all major cities. Charbagh Railway Station is about 9.5 km from the University. Chaudhary Charan Singh Domestic/International Airport is about 4.5 km from the University. Air India, Jet Airways, Jet Lite, GoAir, IndiGo, etc., operate flights from Lucknow to destinations across India. The normal frequency from Delhi to Lucknow and return is around 4–6 flights per hour each way.
